On October 7, 2025, the new Gorozhup-Pogaj cross-border road was officially opened, a strategically important project that directly connects the Has municipality in Kosovo with Albania. This infrastructure is expected to have an immediate and far-reaching impact on the economic and social development of the entire region.
The main importance of this road lies in creating a direct connection and fast access, significantly reducing travel time for residents of the area. Through it, villages, families and labor markets on both sides of the border are now connected more quickly.
A direct impact is expected to be in promoting mountain and cultural tourism. The facilitated access will enable visitors to more easily enjoy the natural beauties and cultural wealth of the Has region and surrounding areas in Albania, opening up new opportunities for development in this sector.
On the other hand, the road serves as a vital corridor for economic exchange, facilitating the transportation of goods and services. This leads to a direct contribution to boosting the local economy and creating new economic opportunities.

Also, by connecting two communities with shared traditions and cultures, the road strengthens cooperation and social exchanges at the local level, concretely bringing people closer together.
In technical terms, the Gorozhup-Pogaj road extends for 3.7 kilometers and represents an investment of approximately 1 million euros. With its status as a cross-border road, it is considered a very important step in strengthening the physical connections between the two countries, bringing tangible benefits to the daily lives of citizens and the economic potential of the region.
This is a project finalized within the framework of agreements signed between Kosovo and Albania.
